The PhytoTrade Africa 2006 Natural Products Awards Winners

At a ceremony at the Natural and Organic Products exhibition in Johannesburg (20th – 22nd October 2006) PhytoTrade Africa launched the first annual Natural Product Awards.  With prize money totalling US$5000, the awards were judged by a panel of independent international experts. The winners were as follows:

• For the most innovative new natural product launched in 2005.
  Winner: Baobar, Speciality Foods of Africa, Zimbabwe
• For outstanding achievement for Fair Trade in the natural products industry.
  Winner: Swazi Indigenous Products, Swaziland
• For outstanding achievement for organic and environmentally sustainable production in the natural products industry. Winner: Treecrops Africa, Malawi
